Welcome to the Disability Information and Support Services.

History

Disability Information and Support was founded in 1995 and responds to the demand for information and advice from residents who have a disability or long-term illness and live within the Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde areas. Our purpose is to provide free, confidential and impartial advice and information on all issues affecting people with disabilities, so enabling them to live as independently as possible. We are committed to a holistic approach in the provision of advice and information in which we take account of the needs of the whole person whatever the nature of their enquiry, or of their disability. Statistical information has shown that the demand for our services is increasing year by year. Welfare Benefit advice makes up the greatest proportion of our work with form filling and preparing appeal cases for our clients. The demand for this service is a direct result of the increasing complexity of the welfare benefits system that clearly indicates the need for an informed, up-to-date and independent service. A recent Customer Care Audit has shown not only the need for such a service but also the high level of customer satisfaction. We have been recognised as a provider of quality advice and information and our many awards include:
